Affect and Cognition

Who we are

The Affect and Cognition Lab at the University of South Carolina led by Dr. Shinkareva and Dr. Wedell studies how affect and cognition interact. We use advanced quantitative methods combined with behavioral, fMRI, eye-tracking, and physiology approaches.

We need participants!

We are actively recruiting participants from the community for below projects.

Misophonia

Currently Available

You can participate in the study through Participate! page of our website. This project aims to identify the brain and physiological mechanisms of people with misophonia when they are exposed to triggers, and how their responses generalize to different forms of the trigger sources. Functional brain connectivity patterns along with MVPA will be used to identify the symptom.

This project seeks to understand how decoy effects operate in complex choice sets. Eye-tracking and behavioral data are collected in simulated shopping experiments where the number and arrangement of consumer items are manipulated, to better understand decision-making in complex choice sets.
